The West Hills United Methodist Church is a living church that accepts the message of Jesus that God loves and accepts all people. Founded in 1970 with twenty founding members of the First United Methodist Church of Port Jefferson, New York, the North Shore United Methodist Church was established with the vision of a church located between Riverhead and Port Jefferson. Meetings were held in local homes until 1845, when the church along Jericho Tpke was erected on property donated by the Oakley family. In 1995, the current building was erected on the site of the first church, and since then, the church has been dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus and his love for all people.
The Long Island Council of Churches (LICC) is a 501 (c) () nonprofit organization that coordinates the ecumenical work of churches in Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island, New York. The LICC works to promote unity among churches and to provide resources to churches in order to help them fulfill their mission. The LICC also works to provide support for churches in their efforts to serve their communities.
